Our client is a Twin Cities-based custom software solutions firm. For the last 15 years, the goal has been to support and grow by partnering with other local businesses on their critical technology needs. They take pride in maintaining long lasting relationships by offering quality service and staying the course as far as current technologies. The company boasts an average client length of 5+ years with some large enterprise clients on board for 10+ years.
Objective
Our client has seen a significant increase in business partners over the last 18 months resulting in a higher demand for professional software staff. With additional support being the primary concern, demand in the Twin Cities for the skills desired continues to increase. The goal was to find an individual with senior level experience, and able to hit the ground running while working with a Fortune 500 company upon arrival. Our client proceeded with SkyWater on a contingent basis to identify a fitting candidate.
Process
SkyWater initially lined up between 10-15 candidates within the Java platform that also had extensive experience with the Groovy/Grails technologies and the AngularJS framework. In addition to the technical expertise, our client required a candidate with a natural culture fit, given the team atmosphere they have created. With the help of the Skywater team and their connections, the pool was narrowed down to a “short-list” of just 2 candidates within the first three days of the search.
Results
With roughly 10 applications for the position, one of our candidates interviewed over the phone with the Software Manager and VP of Software Development. Our candidate was instantly the front runner for the position and was pursued for a 2nd and 3rd round interview before extending an offer. Our “passive” candidate accepted the offer and was thrilled about the new opportunity ahead, and our client was grateful to land the candidate that best fit the role. This process instantly warranted an additional opportunity with our client for a similar software role.
