Responsibilities
The Role: The Account Supervisor is the day-to-day contact on accounts. The work includes public relations, media relations, events, social media, experiential marketing, and ideation/strategy. Critical Thinking and Strategy: Working closely with client contacts and agency leadership to determine best strategic path and having an understanding on how and why things work. This means embracing process and protocol and striving for organization and efficiency to achieve goals. This also means appropriate backgrounding - immersion, preparation, and becoming versed in client business. Media and Influencer Relations: Stay up to date, contribute expertise in the areas of media and online engagement and public relations outreach to client’s overall strategic planning. Have an understanding of the ins and outs of the industry, including category terms and speak. This role includes overseeing media events and activities as required, within a fast-paced media world, building relationships, and gathering and merchandising media coverage. Content Creation and Review: Oversee and develop written materials such as client agendas, media alerts, event briefs, status reports, plan memos and directives, etc. Also oversee content calendars, messaging and backgrounding, etc., as well as staff responsible for the various tasks. Best Practices Development and Stewardship: Undertake and take command of the necessary monitoring and evaluation of activities in order to determine the success or otherwise of communications strategies. Keep head on a swivel to take note of impending shifts or pivots and direct revisions and re-routes as a strong leader, critical thinker, and solver. This means effective team and management skills, the ability to plan and strategize at a senior level, and attention to detail and fiscal parameters, and strong decision-making instinct and overall strategic approach for today and tomorrow. Client and Team Communications and Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills are paramount to this position, with the ability to think strategically and creatively, the ability to multi-task, while holding the team accountable to the plan and results. Constantly evaluating activities and aligning with team members on the best path forward to reach a desired goal. Share and encourage fresh thinking from the team and clients to continually hit objectives. Provide counsel as needed, on most any level and responsible for being a vocal leader in meetings and during ideation sessions. Plan Development: Have a broad business understanding in order to lead the development of and implementation of client/agency project and brand plans, and all that goes with. Be proficient and skilled in deck development, namely PowerPoint.
Desired Skills and Experience
6+ years of PR/strategic communications experience in an internal or external marketing agency or consumer product driven business. Broad mix of start-up to medium sized companies is preferred. Collaborative in nature as demonstrated by experience across multiple departments and practice groups, yet the ability to go solo on an initiative if needed. Highly analytical; able to make data-driven decisions and establish effective metrics. A “player-coach” with strong interpersonal skills who can both manage teams and get into the weeds when necessary. A skilled PR practitioner and seasoned counselor who can determine and guide client strategy and ideate and develop plans and recommendations from start to finish.
