SkyWater is working on an exciting Director of Finance & Accounting role with a $25M specialty liquor importer. This company is family owned, has been around for 15 years and is growing year after year. This individual will be responsible for leading a small team, making process improvements including system implementations, and being involved in the strategy side of the business. This role is a ~95% work from home opportunity so this person must be able to effectively work independently, but also work well with others and build relationships in a remote fashion. 


  • Assist with high-level decisions about financial policy and strategy.
  • Work with the owners, sales and operations team members to develop operating and strategic plans.
  • Transition the company from QuickBooks to a more robust accounting and management system.
  • Prepare financial and management reports.
  • Assure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Provide documentation to external CPA firm for tax preparation.
  • Supervise accounting team and make staffing recommendations.
  • Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or MBA highly preferred
  • Strong Finance, Accounting, and Tax background
  • Experience in identifying and implementing new technology.
  • Experience with wholesale distribution, preferably including international transactions.
  • Ability and willingness to dig into details as required.
