The Marketing Lead will lead the marketing program for the supplier side of the business, which is a brand-new position created to improve the experience suppliers have within our client’s ecosystem. You will own the budget for supplier-side marketing and create a tiered approach to servicing these suppliers (companies like John Deer, Staples, Catepillar for example), focused on profitable revenue growth and support of these suppliers.

You will define and execute the strategy to grow each supplier tier. You will have an incredible in-house digital, creative and content team to aid you with the execution piece of your strategy.  Marketing activities are executed today by this in-house team of 20+ and growing. You will also interact with supplier sales teams and be the go-between to ensure the best support is in place for premier brands such as Volvo, Pitney Bowes, Catepillar and Toro for example. Our client is a relatively flat organization, so to thrive in this role, you should be highly capable of balancing top-level strategic thinking with the ability to dive into details and hands-on execution.

  • Establish objectives and processes for this brand-new marketing endeavor, track progress, and allocate resources appropriately.
  • Work with the leadership team, supplier team and in-house marketing team to develop a marketing budget, detailed execution plans/calendar and evaluation metrics.
  • Manage marketing objectives within budget, driving for financial efficiencies.
  • Articulate compelling value propositions (story, relevance, utility, advantages) for current services relevant to customers’ needs and wants.
  • Drive distinct competitive advantage in launching new products/services and expanding utilization within the existing customer base.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to seamlessly integrate efforts and ensure consistent messaging.

  • Recommend and implement appropriate technology tools for marketing management.

  • Proactively identify and communicate marketing-focused opportunities and risks for the company.

  • Manage external service provider relationships as needed.

The Candidate
The company needs a leader with a strategic vision and who can execute the strategy.  There is a sense of entrepreneurial spirit within the company where leaders are expected to work as a team, maintain a high level of professionalism, have thoughtful decision-making, and respect for one another.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Expertise in trade-focused/wholesale or government marketing, preferably with a stronger B2B focus.
  • Entrepreneurial, creative mindset focused on linking marketing and profitable sales.
