I have been retained by one of my private equity portfolio clients to help them find a Vice President of Manufacturing.  The company is a holding of a well know private equity firm and there is a meaningful LTIP with this opportunity that has equity tied to an event.  This person will serve as the strategic and tactical leader over two manufacturing facilities in the Twin Cities.  This position will have primary responsibility to deliver operating results (safety, quality, cost, and growth) and build increased capability in both people, process, and systems.  The successful candidate for this role will partner/integrate the needs/requirements of all other functions that interface with manufacturing including Quality, Supply Chain, and Business Development/Sales to meet customer demands.

Responsibilities

? Lead a multi-shift, multi-site manufacturing operation to execute a continuous improvement culture throughout the business designed to help customers grow and save money, achieve production goals, and meet customer quality and delivery requirements. ? Through the use of data to drive decision making, implement methods to increase production efficiency and productivity focused in the areas of OEE (uptime and throughput), improved asset utilization, direct labor efficiency while lower operating costs. ? Hands-on leadership in driving change management throughout the organization, functioning as a catalyst for the organization to embrace and implement proven and emerging strategies. ? Drive operational excellence best practices, such as daily management, processes & metrics, standard work, and lean principles. ? Forecast labor requirements through capacity planning and work with Human Resources to ensure the appropriate level of labor is available. ? Provide Leadership to production operations, including Maintenance, to ensure work standards, training, calibration, equipment availability, etc. are being effectively executed and maintained. ? Participate in preparation of operating budgets for assigned areas and manage all operations within budget. ? Assist in preparation and issuance of the master production plan to ensure production rates and product mix can be supported.

Desired Skills and Experience

There is a strong preference to find a local candidate who has the below mentioned skills. The key requirements include finding someone who has current/recent experience working in a FDA regulated environment that is low volume/high mix and has implemented Lean/CI in an environment where it didn't exist before. They will consider Plant Managers who are ready for this position or multi-site manufacturing leaders. Below are the addition requirements. ? Bachelor's degree. ? 10+ years’ experience of which at least 5 years have been spent in a significant senior Manufacturing management role. ? Manufacturing experience in a low volume/high mix FDA regulated environment with processes that include mix, compound, and filling strongly preferred. ? Experience implementing a lean or continuous improvement culture in a business that didn’t have it before. ? Demonstrated ability to be a well-balanced leader who can roll up their sleeves and focus on the detail to “get things done” while grasping and supporting the “big picture”. ? Strong business knowledge with the ability to contribute to the growth of the company in areas other than Manufacturing as a Leadership Team member. ? A self-motivated, results driven, collaborative team player with the ability to instill values and influence others at all levels of the organization. ? Ability to build trust at the senior leadership level as well as with hourly associates. ? Well-developed and highly effective listening and communication skills. ? A proven track-record of successfully leading significant change management initiatives. ? Experience working with a leadership team in the transition from a small, privately owned business to a private equity medium sized business.
