Vice President of Operations
VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS
POSITION PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for delivering critical strategic planning and driving efficient profitable outcomes while working directly with the Sales and Quality functions to meet customer demands.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
- Lead organization-wide operations by directing and coordinating manufacturing, supply chain and quality activities that are consistent with the goals, objectives and policies of the company.
- Develop, implement and own operating budgets, plans and objectives. Measure and evaluate the performance of the manufacturing locations to these objectives and course correct as needed to meet goals.
- As a member of the senior leadership team, participate in the development of strategic plan to grow the Company and then develop appropriate long- and short-range goals for operations that align with the Company’s overall strategic plan.
- Ensure that as the company grows; manufacturing capacity and capabilities meeting or exceeding all industry and customer requirements for cost, quality, delivery and responsiveness.
- Adopt, utilize, and demonstrate continuous improvement and LEAN principles to implement improved manufacturing processes and management methods to generate savings.
- Interact regularly and communicate proactively at all sites, and other functional areas of the company to resolve process and operations issues promptly, optimize results, and create a successful, collaborative environment.
- Develop and lead staff by active engagement and coaching, while cultivating a team culture that supports rapid, creative problem solving, and results-driven operations.
- Ensure that safety and product quality are top priorities at all levels of the operation.
- Develop and achieve monthly, quarterly and annual operations metrics (KPIs) in accordance with the company’s annual budget.
- Strict adherence to the Company’s corporate policies and Code of Conduct requirements, as well as all Federal and State regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or a related area.
- LEAN I Six Sigma experience highly desired.
- A minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility in manufacturing operations leadership roles, across multiple locations.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
- Hands-on familiarity with all stages of manufacturing, quality, safety and product/process development.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in contract manufacturing, preferably in machining, tooling and production of metal products.
- Proven track record in implementing continuous improvement, lean manufacturing (Kaizen) culture within a manufacturing organization.
SKILLS ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including employee development and coaching.
- Ability to connect with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
- Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong proven analytical skills and ability to communicate relevant manufacturing data to peers and other management to ensure appropriate manufacturing outcomes.
