Vice President of Sales
I have been retained by Briggs & Stratton to help them find their next Vice President of Sales. This person will report to the President of the Power business unit, a $1B+ division of the company that manufacturers Briggs & Stratton and Vanguard brand gas powered engines for residential and commercial applications and Vanguard brand lithium-ion batteries.
Founded in 1908, B&S is the world’s largest producer of gasoline engines for outdoor power equipment and is a leading manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries, lawn & garden, turf care and power generation products. Brands in their portfolio include Briggs & Stratton, Vanguard, Simplicity, Snapper, Ferris, and Murray. Products are supplied to big box retailers, dealers, distributors, and OEM customers.
Since September 2020, the company has been owned by KPS Capital Partners and has no debt. KPS brought in a new leadership team who have come from big companies and have seen what great looks like. The team being assembled today is part of the transformation journey and the progress has been very favorable.
Responsibilities
The Vice President of Sales will be based in Milwaukee and will lead a global team of 15-20 people on behalf of their Commercial & Utility business. This is the area of the Power division that supplies engines to commercial lawn and garden OEMs for products used by commercial landscape contractors (i.e. Zero Turn Radius mowers), Utility OEMs (i.e., John Deere Gator and Argo), light construction and leisure OEMs. This role will have appeal to a person who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment working with an iconic brand (B&S) and have the ability of putting their fingerprint all over the Vanguard brand as it gets built out.
Desired Skills and Experience
To be considered, we need a professional sales leader with 15+ years total experience of which 4+ have been leading a large sales team from a manufacturer whose products are either sold through dealers or direct to OEMs. Global experience strongly preferred.
