Position Summary
They are seeking a hands-on, experienced Lead Design Engineer to join their product development team. This individual will be responsible for leading mechanical design efforts for new and existing equipment lines, managing engineering workflows, and ensuring product excellence from concept through production.
 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for specialized industrial equipment.
  • Generate 3D models, drawings, and detailed documentation using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or similar platforms.
  • Oversee prototyping, validation testing, and product iteration.
  • Collaborate with production, supply chain, and field teams to ensure designs are efficient, manufacturable, and maintainable.
  • Guide and mentor a small team of engineers and drafters, promoting best practices in design and project management.
  • Interface with marketing, sales, and service teams to gather user insights and translate them into design solutions.
  • Evaluate and select materials, manufacturing processes, and components for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify and implement continuous product improvements based on field data and user feedback.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the industrial or heavy equipment sector.
  • Proficiency in CAD design (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, and PLM systems.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, mechanical assemblies, fabrication, and welding principles.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
