SkyWater has been retained by one of our private equity clients to identify the next Chief Executive Officer for one of their fast-growing and exciting Minnesota-based portfolio companies.
This well-reputed $50M specialty restoration business has been around for over 20 years, and has a great reputation within their industry. Only open due to a pending retirement of the current CEO, this company requires a hands-on leader to help drive its next phase of growth. The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for managing every aspect of our client’s operation, ensuring sustained growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, strong company culture, and the long-term creation of shareholder value. The CEO will develop and execute strategic initiatives, oversee business operations, and drive expansion while living the Company’s core values. This role requires a hands-on results-driven leader, willing to take an active role in all aspects of the Company’s operations.
*** This position is local to Minneapolis; the ideal candidate will reside in the Twin Cities and is expected to be in the office regularly. ***

Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all business operations, ensuring safety, customer satisfaction, efficiency, and job level profitability. o Conduct final reviews of estimates and proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and an attractive gross margin profile. o Ensure appropriate staffing levels for each project while matching team members’ skill sets to the needs of the project. o Monitor projects to ensure completion within estimated hours and/or costs, utilizing daily reports and ensuring functional managers are taking action when projects deviate from estimated timeline and scope. o Continually evaluate project timelines and adjust resources and field staff to meet timelines. o Develop and refine HR strategy to ensure a favorable company culture, labor availability to support growth, while maintaining target labor utilization rates and profitability.
- Drive revenue growth by ensuring the Company has quality sales leadership and personnel, appropriate levels of staffing, the right sales tools, and appropriate sales incentives. Collaborate with the sales team to achieve annual goals, identifying(1) new business opportunities (2) complimentary service offerings and (3) developing and implementing a geographic growth expansion strategy. o Collaborate with sales and operational leaders to ensure sales and profitability targets are achieved, while utilizing available labor hours and balancing seasonality of demand. o Work with the sales team to identify and pursue new customers. o Interface with key customers. o Identify and roll out new complimentary service offerings. o Collaborate with senior managers and the Board of Directors to develop and implement a geographic expansion strategy, including acquiring and /or greenfielding new locations.
- Manage financial performance and resource allocation by collaborating with the CFO and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization. o Communicate financial performance effectively to the Board, management, employees and lenders. o Develop and refine Key Performance Indicators for measuring the Company’s operational and financial performance.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior executive leadership experience in industrial services, construction or a related industry.
- Strong track record of business development, financial management, and operational leadership. o Experience overseeing a national sales organization o Experience managing a service organization with nationally deployed technicians and fixed assets o Experience overseeing and managing a full P&L
- Experience identifying and integrating acquisitions.
- Deep understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental compliance.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
- Experience managing large-scale projects and navigating complex client relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management or a related field
