Senior Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our client’s growing finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with Minnesota sales and use tax regulations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Verify proper coding and approvals
- Prepare weekly payment runs and maintain vendor records
- Resolve discrepancies and respond to vendor inquiries
- Generate and send customer invoices
- Apply payments and monitor aging reports
- Follow up on past-due accounts and manage collection efforts
- Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger
- Maintain accurate documentation for tax audits and ensure compliance with state tax laws
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and ensure proper application to business activities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
- Support audits and ensure compliance with internal controls
Desired Skills and Experience
- 2+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on AR, AP, and sales/use tax
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
