Manufacturing Engineer
A fast-paced, high-growth food manufacturing facility in San Antonio is seeking a Process Engineer to drive improvements in production efficiency, food safety, and product quality. This role is ideal for a technically driven individual with hands-on experience in food processing environments who thrives in a collaborative setting and is passionate about optimizing operations through engineering solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield optimization, process reliability, and throughput.
- Analyze production line performance and implement technical solutions to reduce downtime and enhance productivity.
- Partner with Quality, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure food safety and regulatory compliance (USDA, FDA, HACCP).
- Design and refine processes related to cooking, chilling, portioning, and packaging of food products.
- Drive standardization and process control using data analysis and statistical tools.
- Support capital projects including equipment specification, vendor selection, installation, and commissioning.
- Train operators and supervisors on new systems or process changes and document best practices.
- Monitor KPIs and report progress toward operational efficiency and cost reduction goals.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Food Engineering (or related discipline).
- 2+ years of experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment is required.
- Strong understanding of thermal processing, sanitation practices, and production line integration.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is preferred.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
