Accounting Manager
SkyWater is thrilled to partner with a highly acquisitive, family-owned business in Fargo, ND that’s continuing to grow…and this individual will play a direct role in driving that growth!
We’re looking for a proactive, process-improvement obsessed, outgoing, natural-born leader to join the team. You’ll oversee and mentor a small but motivated up and comers.
The environment here is fast-changing but laid back, everyone is passionate about the company’s success- but no one takes themselves too seriously.
Top priorities include improving month-end processes and financial statement preparation, leading the annual budgeting process, and continuing to grow and develop the accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end close and deliver accurate financial reports to management.
- Oversee account reconciliations and the preparation of financial statements.
- Manage the accounts payable function, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.
- Coordinate sales and use tax filings, delegating tasks as needed.
- Ensure timely submission of required regulatory and business filings.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members through feedback and performance management.
- Drive improvements in the monthly close process and hold contributors accountable.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Conduct profitability and performance analysis to support business decisions.
- Support audits and reviews, coordinating with external firms and preparing documentation.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and financial analysis for business initiatives.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Contribute to monthly financial analysis, including variance and trend reviews.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.
Desired Skills and Experience
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited college is required.
- Minimum five (5) years of directly related experience is required, and CPA is a plus.
- Experience with government compliance, including licensing and sales/use tax is a plus.
- Construction or related industry knowledge and experience preferred, including job costing and work-in-progress entries.
