Director of Engineering
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for setting the vision and direction for IP Corporation’s engineering organization including process control initiatives, capital project management, operational excellence, and reliability.
This leader will guide a team of leaders and indirect reports, driving operational excellence across multiple facilities while ensuring engineering initiatives directly support corporate growth, efficiency, and innovation and will require a balance of strategic foresight, technical expertise, and strong people leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a diverse engineering organization, providing mentorship and development for both direct and indirect reports.
- Foster a high-performance culture that values safety, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear priorities, empower decision-making, and support professional growth within the team.
- Define the long-term engineering roadmap in alignment with business objectives and future market opportunities.
- Guide capital planning and resource allocation to maximize return on investment and operational performance.
- Partner with senior leadership to shape initiatives that strengthen competitiveness and sustainability.
- Oversee the execution of engineering projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Champion the adoption of advanced technologies, automation, and process optimization across plants.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards while driving efficiency and cost savings.
- Work closely with R&D, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure engineering efforts support product innovation and business strategy.
- Serve as a key voice in executive discussions on plant performance, growth initiatives, and emerging opportunities.
- Build strong external relationships with vendors, technology providers, and industry partners to keep the organization ahead of trends.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field required; advanced degree preferred).
- At least 10 years of engineering leadership experience within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Direct management of multi-level teams (5+ direct reports, 20+ indirect reports, and leading leaders) with proven results in organizational development.
- Track record of successfully delivering large-scale capital projects and implementing sustainable process improvements.
- Strong grasp of reliability engineering, process controls, and manufacturing systems.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive decision-making and collaborate across functional areas.
