Controller
I’m partnering with a fast-growing, privately held construction company to help them identify a hands-on Controller to lead and execute all accounting and finance operations. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the company’s financial health, cash flow, job profitability, and scalability.
The Controller will oversee A/R, A/P, Payroll, General Ledger, Job Costing, WIP, and Financial Reporting, while leading and developing a team of 4 accounting professionals.
The ideal candidate is process-driven, detail-oriented, and execution-focused, with the ability to build SOPs, drive accountability, and partner closely with operations, sales, and ownership.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Analyze financial performance, margins, cash flow
- Develop dashboards and KPIs to track revenue, cash flow, profitability
- Ensure accurate job costing, WIP tracking, and margin reporting by job
- Lead a timely and accurate month-end close process
- Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable & Cash Management
- Oversee all A/R and collections
- Establish clear accountability standards for collections
- Manage A/P, including subcontractor payments, vendor reconciliations
- Oversee daily cash activity, deposits, and payment processing
- Implement and manage ACH and credit card payment systems
- Administer employee credit card access and controls
- Payroll, Compliance & Benefits
- Oversee payroll processing, including commissions
- Ensure compliance with payroll taxes, sales/use taxes, and state reporting
- Manage quarterly and annual compliance filings
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Strong experience with:
- Job costing and WIP accounting
- A/R-intensive environments
- Multi-entity or multi-location businesses
- Proven experience leading and developing teams of 4+
- Advanced proficiency with accounting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style
