SkyWater is excited to partner with a returning local consumer goods manufacturing company as they’re expanding operations and seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Supervisor. This person will lead a critical day-shift assembly team. This privately held organization is entering its next growth phase, relaunching a second shift and modernizing its production footprint. The role will report to the Plant Manager, this leader will oversee 15–20 union assembly employees in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment. The plant is transitioning to an assembly-only model, making this a pivotal role in shaping workflow, standards, and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily production activities for assigned assembly lines
  • Direct and support a team of approximately 15–20 production employees
  • Ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery goals are met
  • Coordinate production schedules with planning and other supervisory teams
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on presence on the manufacturing floor
  • Monitor work for quality, accuracy, and conformance to standards
  • Coach, develop, and performance-manage employees, including corrective action when needed
  • Work effectively within a union environment, partnering with union stewards as required
  • Support cross-training initiatives to build workforce flexibility
  • Drive continuous improvement in labor efficiency and workflow
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with shipping/receiving, maintenance, and quality teams
  • Support plant initiatives and special projects as assigned by leadership

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of manufacturing or assembly supervisory experience
  • Prior experience leading employees in a union environment (Teamsters preferred)
  • Strong background in assembly operations and production workflows
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and gain respect from both tenured and newer employees
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong floor presence
  • Solid understanding of quality standards and production metrics
  • Experience managing 10–25+ hourly employees
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive culture
