A local non-profit organization with a $3B+ portfolio of sophisticated public and private investments is looking to add an Associate Director of Operations to their small, collaborative team.
This is an exciting opportunity to assist with all accounting aspects covering the life cycle of the firm’s investments.

The person will work side by side with senior leadership and will be involved in onboarding new investments, including the determination of appropriate US GAAP accounting treatment and reporting needs for investments. The candidate will participate and guide financial audits, ensure accurate investment capture of all transactions into the firm’s software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the upfront accounting-related onboarding and US GAAP accounting treatment for new investments
  • Book accounting entries for the firm's investments, including related long and short-term incentive accruals
  • Maintain records for financial statements
  • Assist with payment process for firm expenses
  • Participate in and guide financial audits, coordinating with clients and external auditors to ensure thorough and efficient reviews
  • Ensure investment manager compliance with firm documentation requests
  • Create and analyze internally generated financial reporting packages and compare against manager provided support, providing insights and recommendations for business decisions
  • Prepare Firm and client reporting packages per desired cadence
  • Assist with creation and review of firm generated waterfall models
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Partner with tax, audit, and banking relationships
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and systems
  • Identify, develop and promote process documentation, policies and procedures that support the quality and effectiveness of firm investment operations practices
  • Promote knowledge-sharing and training of all operations staff

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong technical accounting and US GAAP expertise
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in accounting or investment operations
  • Strong critical thinking skills and tenacity when researching potential issues, reconciling inconsistencies, and resolving problems
  • Advanced experience with a Windows PC environment and with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with alternative investments
  • Ability to model complex fee and incentive calculations
