Director of Accounting and Finance
SkyWater is partnering with a privately held, diversified organization operating at scale across the United States to add a Director of Accounting & Finance during a dynamic period of growth and leadership evolution. This role will work closely with the CFO and have a meaningful hand in shaping, strengthening, and modernizing the finance function.
This role is being hired ahead of need and will assume meaningful day-to-day accounting and finance responsibilities, helping to streamline operations and enhance reporting while allowing the CFO to focus on broader strategic priorities.
The position offers flexibility to grow over time, with the opportunity to develop along a traditional controllership path or expand into broader finance leadership role, depending on experience and long-term interests.

Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including monthly close, financial reporting, and balance sheet integrity
- Oversee internal controls, compliance, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and executive-level reporting commentary
- Provide clear, actionable financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Lead, develop, and manage a multi-layered accounting team
- Support knowledge transfer and succession planning with the current Controller
- Drive systems upgrades, reporting enhancements, and process improvements
- Act as a trusted finance partner to leaders across the organization
Desired Skills and Experience
- Strong accounting foundation: CPA strongly preferred
- Experience in controllership, accounting leadership, or director-level roles
- Demonstrated exposure to FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
- Background in a mid-sized or growing private company environment
- Hands-on leader who can balance execution with strategic thinking
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving organization
