Accounting Manager

We are seeking an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting operations and financial reporting activities. This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, drive process improvements, and work collaboratively across multiple departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable with technical accounting topics.

This is a hybrid position located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
 

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support monthly close processes, ensuring accuracy in consolidations, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including FP&A, Treasury, and Tax—to align reporting with planning and forecasting needs.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations by maintaining and enhancing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and review internal and external financial reports, including SEC filings and materials for management and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing audit requests and deliverables to ensure a smooth audit process.
  • Analyze variances and trends to provide insights and support data-driven decision-making by leadership.
  • Drive automation and efficiency in back-office systems by partnering with IT on finance technology improvements.
  • Draft technical accounting memos for complex transactions, including the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Contribute to the design and documentation of internal controls, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk.
  • Lead and mentor accounting team members, promoting a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
  • Assist in preparing financial data and communications for investor relations activities.
  • Stay connected with professional accounting groups and systems vendors to maintain industry awareness and best practices.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, preferably within public accounting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, lead projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and work across all levels of an organization.
  • Adept at identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing system enhancements.
