Assistant Project Manager
SkyWater is partnering with a growing commercial construction firm in the Chicago area to find an Assistant Project Manager for their expanding team! Our client is a privately held general contractor that has been successfully operating for over 25 years and supports a wide range of commercial construction projects. This role will support project leadership while gaining hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle. The Assistant Project Manager will assist with day-to-day project coordination, communication, scheduling, documentation, and financial tracking on multiple small to mid-sized commercial construction projects. Our client is seeking someone with 1–3 years of construction, project engineering, or assistant project management experience within the construction industry who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow their career with a growing general contractor. Responsibilities
- Assist with daily management and coordination of assigned commercial construction projects.
- Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection for specific scopes of work.
- Manage project documentation, communication, and workflows.
- Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, and project financial documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
- 1-3 years of project management, project engineering, or construction administration/coordination experience.
- Strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
- Experience working with a general contractor or similar construction industry experience preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects/responsibilities.
