Assistant Project Manager
SkyWater is partnering with a commercial construction contractor in the Chicago area to find an Assistant Project Manager for their growing team! Our client is a privately held general contractor that has been successfully operating for over 100 years and supports a wide range of commercial construction projects. This role will support senior project leadership while gaining hands-on exposure to the full project lifecycle. The Assistant Project Manager will assist with day-to-day project coordination, communication, scheduling, documentation, and financial tracking on multiple small to mid-sized commercial construction projects. Our client is seeking someone with 1–3 years of construction, project engineering, or assistant project management experience who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow their career in commercial construction. Responsibilities
- Assist with daily management and coordination of assigned commercial construction projects.
- Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection for specific scopes of work.
- Manage project documentation, communication, and workflows.
- Assist with scheduling, cost tracking, and project financial documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field.
- 1-3 years of project management, project engineering, or construction administration/coordination experience.
- Strong communication skills (both written & verbal).
- Proficient with MS Office products and scheduling tools.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects/responsibilities.
