Chief Financial Officer
POSITION SUMMARY
The Corporate Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) is accountable for the administrative and financial management of the Company affiliated companies (“Affiliates”) to include the participation in development of the financial and operational strategies, ongoing development and monitoring of controls and systems, adherence to the approved Asset Liability Management Plan and Liquidity Plan, and general compliance with approved strategy decisions. The CFO will develop financial budgets and evaluate trends, determine critical measurements, resolve problems, and implement change.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hands-on leadership across the confluence of managerial, GAAP, Tax, and Cash planning, accounting, and reporting
- Thought leadership across all Affiliates’ controllership functions
- Eventual participation on Affiliates’ boards
Planning
- Assist in formulating company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Responsible for development of financial budgets in accordance with strategic plans
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic financial plans
- Develop financial and tax plans to optimize after-tax results
- Develop performance measures that support Affiliates strategic directions
Operations and Risk Management
- Direct and assist in policy development and maintenance
- Participate in establishing appropriate fee and pricing thresholds and special circumstance pricing analyses
- Direct oversight of accounting, and contract divisions of the firm.
- Administrative oversight over audit committee
- Lead preparation for audits conducted by Affiliates’ clients or outside auditors hired by Affiliates.
- Ensure adequate follow-up to exam points. Present responses to clients, auditors and Affiliates Board of Directors
- Manage any third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced.
- With HR, engage in employee benefit planning, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
- Participate in risk assessments and the appropriate management of risk throughout the organizations
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage
- Ensure that the operations under the management of the CFO comply with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all required licensing is in place, maintained and renewed timely
- With Chief Compliance Officer, maintain Firm’s compliance culture and ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings.
- With Risk Manager, engage in monitoring adherence to Investor side letter provisions.
Financial
- Ensure accuracy of financial transactions and financial statements
- Responsible for establishing an appropriate approval process over disbursements and execution of all financial transactions
- Establish an acceptable control environment around all general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed asset, managed deposits, financial reporting and other financial functions
- Oversee completion of regulatory reports for federal and state regulatory agencies as well as applicable GSEs or others
- Report compiled or consolidated financial results and analyses for all Affiliates to the CEO
- Responsible for the proper development, execution of and adherence to the Asset Liability Management, funding and liquidity management plans and related requirements
- Monitor funding needs and cash flows on a regular basis and ensure sufficient liquidity to meet all operational needs and policy requirements
- Primary steward of commercial banking relationships for debt financings for Firm and Funds.
- Invest excess funds in accordance with established investment policies
- Monitor Fund cash flows and determine timing and amount of Investor capital calls and distributions.
- Other duties as appropriate and relevant to the position
Supervisory requirements
- This position is responsible for interviewing, hiring, mentoring, coaching, motivating and evaluating tax, accounting, operations and risk staff across Affiliates
- Must be resourceful in working with the CEO and Boards of Directors, as well as the President, COO, CHRO, CCO, SVP Sales & Marketing, and others throughout the Affiliates

Independent Judgment
- Possess a high degree of independent judgment, heavily relied upon by the CEO and the Board of Directors
- Be able to discern points of an operation that present increased risk and/or exposure
- Ability to understand and communicate tax, accounting and financial controls and to read and make conclusions from regulatory guidance
- Ability to research and read statutory and regulatory publications as well as general business materials and industry publications, and to make conclusions about implications to Affiliates operating success and growth abilities is paramount to the success of this position
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- 20+ years experience with minimum 5 years in financial leadership roles in financial industries
- CPA preferred, (active or inactive) or comparable experience with advanced degrees
- Must have strong attention to detail and superior analytical skills
- Must be able to communicate clearly, both orally and written
- Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
- Ability to read and understand relevant statutory and regulatory requirements imperative
- Must present oneself in a positive business-like image to all internal and external customers
