Due to growth, my client is looking to hire a Controller to lead the financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance team in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and monitor performance against targets.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide strategic insights to senior management, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits, reviews, and tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage cash flow and liquidity, optimizing working capital management and overseeing banking relationships.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and client invoicing.
  • Implement and maintain financial reporting systems and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of financial information.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP principles; experience with architectural or professional services firms preferred..
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights to support business objectives.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Commitment to professional growth and staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
