Due to growth, my client is looking to hire a Controller to lead the financial operations of the company.
The Controller will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial management. Responsibilities
- Lead the finance team in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads to develop annual budgets and monitor performance against targets.
- Conduct financial analysis and provide strategic insights to senior management, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks to inform decision-making.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate annual audits, reviews, and tax filings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow and liquidity, optimizing working capital management and overseeing banking relationships.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and client invoicing.
- Implement and maintain financial reporting systems and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of financial information.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP principles; experience with architectural or professional services firms preferred..
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights to support business objectives.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
- Commitment to professional growth and staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
