Position Summary Working in a team environment, the Inside Sales Engineer will be responsible for executing technical details that support our sales process, including cost estimate roll-ups, project estimates, sales drawings, and dock surveys. This candidate must be organized and detail-oriented to interface directly with application and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure that critical information is translated through our order lifecycle to meet company expectations for product delivery, including quality standards, design safety specs, installation success, and profitability. The Inside Sales Engineer will have the opportunity to design custom and new products based on customer needs and gaps in the market under the direction of our chief engineer.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with Sales and Applications teams to understand customer requirements and specifications for product design.

    • Use Pipedrive CRM to manage deals and sales activities.
    • Utilize Microsoft Business Central ERP to develop job costing and profitability analysis, create and configure sales quotes and orders to facilitate proper order execution.
    • Use Microsoft Suite of products including Word, Excel, and Projects for quoting and cost roll-ups to determine pricing.
    • Responsible for sending, logging, and using RFQ documents to new and existing vendors to ensure proper costs are used when quoting and target profit margins are met.
  • Use Computer-Aided Design/Drafting (CAD) software (Auto-CAD and SolidWorks) to:

    • Conceptualize and design new products to meet customers’ specific loading operation and site requirements.
    • Modify and/or create component and assembly drawings.
    • Create new or modify existing shipping and installation drawings.
  • Travel to measure and survey customer sites for successful product integration.

    • Onsite: Visit customer locations to measure loading docks and create accurate field dimension drawings.
    • Virtual: Review Google Earth images and/or building layouts to create concept layouts which may include trailer turning radius, parking, building layouts, and building integration details.
  • Provide support to manufacturing partners to ensure products are fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.

    • Provide support for the service and manufacturing team with drawings to facilitate quoting, shipping, and installation.
    • Provide support for sales and marketing for the development of customer education material and other assets.
    • Provide prompt, accurate responses to special applications inquiries from our sales and service teams.
    • Generate product documentation such as product manuals or other documentation as required.
    • Execute all other sales-related tasks in support of sales efforts. This can include, but is not limited to:
      • Parking lot and turning radius calculations and drawing
      • Creating equipment submittal sets for permit and/or closeout documentation
      • Calls with local AHJ to assist customers in the permit process
      • Contact with new suppliers for supplemental products that enable sales (e.g., generators)
      • Contract and insurance review and support

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in design or engineering.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to identify and engage subject matter experts to work through new challenges.
  • Experience in Computer-Aided Design/Drafting (CAD): AutoCAD and SolidWorks strongly preferred.
  • Use of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central ERP and Excel preferred.
  • Experience with steel fabrication and/or hydraulics and controls is a plus.
  • Extreme attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure project success and that tracking systems are utilized.
  • Ability to proactively identify, analyze, address, and resolve problem areas, conflicts, and issues.
  • Open-mindedness to seek understanding of technical problems and share knowledge with other team members.
  • Proficiency in creating and modifying spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet project timeline needs and troubleshoot job issues.

Workplace Location and Travel Requirements

  • Full-time salaried position, with the ability to earn a quarterly bonus based on business and sales team performance.

  • Provide detailed communication to external and internal partners to ensure product details are communicated throughout the lifespan of the project.

    • This includes from the initial call to quoting, order creation, manufacturing, finance, shipping, and aftermarket support as needed.

Education, Experience, and Skills
