Summary:

My client has engaged me in a full retained search for their Corporate Controller.  My client is a pre-IPO fast growing medical technology company located in Minneapolis.

My client is looking for a Corporate Controller in a newly expanded role due to growth and to prepare for an IPO in 2022.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the close and preparation and analysis of monthly financial results ensuring adherence to US GAAP; including but not limited to the G/L, A/P, A/R, payroll, month-end close, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, tax reporting, compliance requirements, and external audits.
  • Oversee the company’s financial reporting process and future SEC reporting (S-1 / S-4, 10-Q’s, 10-K’s, proxy statements, earnings releases, etc.)
  • Provide leadership to Company’s senior management team by helping support the business proactively, including establishing an inclusive process for regularly updating the company’s budget/forecast to keep an accurate prediction of the business’ financial performance, providing timely financial reporting allowing management to control their spending timely to achieve agreed upon spending goals set, and proactively supporting management with analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Manage the consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting of all business entities.
  • Assess accounting for M&A and other transactions and provide technical accounting memos, as necessary.
  • Directly responsible for ensuring Company has appropriate levels of internal controls in place to help ensure assets remain protected, financial reporting is accurate and complete, and all company transactions are properly authorized.
  • Develop and manage a reporting mechanism for key performance indicators (financial and non-financial).
  • Conduct operational reviews to ensure effective and efficient spending. Make necessary recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.
  • Oversee daily banking and cash management activities including bank compliance and reporting.
  • Coordinate activities of company’s external auditors, provides oversight to the annual financial audit process. Provides support to the Board Audit Committee including coordinating audit firm selection and reporting audit findings to the Committee.
  • Assist with various technical accounting projects, including summaries of research performed and conclusions reached.
  • Ensure stock based compensation expense is appropriately calculated and reported.
  • Provide leadership, direction and supervision to the accounting and finance group. Establish and ensure ongoing professional development of all accounting and finance staff.
  • Active member of the company’s management team, participating in management team meetings and other leadership activities.
  • Lead or participate in special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience with 5 years of progressive management experience preferably with combination of experience with a nationally recognized public accounting firm and relevant Controller experience.
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong technical accounting background with in-depth knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with research and preparation of technical accounting memos.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

The Global Product Manager (GPM) is the global owner of the largest product segment within the vascular portfolio representing over $125m+ in annual revenue. This person is responsible for the development and execution of marketing strategies to drive global growth and increase profits for the strong brands within the portfolio.  The responsibilities include setting strategic direction for the product line, assessing market & competitive trends, and partnering with regional marketing teams on customer needs and local plans to drive loyalty and business growth.  The GPM will identify growth opportunities for existing products, drive their market adoptions, and grow market share.  The GPM will partner with regional marketing to identify new product ideas and work with a cross-functional team to develop and launch these new product solutions to expand the category portfolio. 

Concurrently, they will define global customer needs and develop solutions to satisfy these needs.  The GPM will seek improvements in brand profitability and partner with new business development to identify potential licensing and acquisition targets to grow the category. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • GPM is responsible for delivering product line growth as well as profitability targets for the product lines.
  • Responsible for creating a clear portfolio strategy; understanding Regional impact by establishing a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, technology trends, and competitive assessment that will drive above market growth within the portfolio.
  • Own profit and loss in their suite of products region by region, partnering with the GM to drive growth and profit opportunities.
  • Develop business cases to support new product concepts for development and responsible for establishing clear value propositions for all products within the portfolio. 
  • Own Purchased Finished Goods identification, commercialization and launch into the Regions.
  • Develop detailed Global Marketing plans and Launch kits for Regions to execute that outlines target metrics to drive new product revenue growth.
  • Set and manage value-based price corridors and guidance for products/solutions.
  • Develop portfolio strategies by analyzing and streamlining the portfolio via End of Life, SKU rationalization, and cost reduction initiatives to drive portfolio profitability.
  • Steward of the product launch process, ensuring key features and benefits are realized and key marketing claims are achieved and Marketing Milestone Reviews (MMRs) are completed prior to associated PRC Gates.
  • Responsible for evolving and keeping compliant and current any product claims (claims matrix) for the product line(s), partnering with R&D, Clinical and Regulatory to develop data to support existing and new claims.
  • Own the marketed product line(s) driving decisions for life-cycle management, SKU rationalization, driving S&OP recommendations and long-term forecasts, driving recommendations for registration strategy and cost reductions
  • Own the new product development, understanding status and timing and creating new product launch forecasts and minimal launch inventory needed to achieve OTIF.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the product line.
  • Manage business financial metrics for new product(s) including revenue forecast, margin analysis, and financial viability of the project.   

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate Degree (BA/BS) in business, marketing, or engineering. MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of successful related business experience required, international experience is a plus
  • 3+ years of experience global marketing role in medical device or healthcare
  • Ability to develop business cases to support new opportunities
  • High sense of ownership and effective at escalating issues
  • Experience developing, implementing, and driving execution of Marketing Plans which include defining goals, strategies and tactics
  • Knowledge of global healthcare markets, and experience in working closely with international regions to support business objectives required
