We’re partnering with a family-owned organization headquartered in Green Bay, WI, with more than 40 business units and 80+ locations across the U.S. and Canada. They’re seeking a Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations for a 900+ employee, multi-entity organization spanning the U.S. and Canada. This role is ideal for someone who loves the challenge of complex payroll, enjoys mentoring a strong team, and thrives in a company that values both precision and people.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead payroll operations across multiple states and Canada — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Manage weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles for multiple entities.
  • Supervise and develop a payroll team of three, fostering accuracy and accountability.
  • Partner with Finance and HR on reconciliations, audits, and reporting.
  • Optimize Paylocity (or similar system) to improve efficiency and automation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, provincial, and local wage/tax regulations.
  • Support growth initiatives, including acquisitions and new system integrations.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll leadership; Canadian payroll experience preferred.
  • Proven team leadership and mentoring ability.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax, compliance, and accounting principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Paylocity or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR, or Business; CPP certification preferred.
  • A collaborative, values-driven approach to leadership — integrity, accountability, teamwork.
