Purchasing Manager
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations for a premier electrical solutions firm specializing in design, construction, and maintenance. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for driving strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement processes to support construction, engineering, and service operations throughout the Upper Midwest.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with project schedules, budgetary requirements, and operational goals.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and vendors to secure the best value and ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers, monitor performance, and mitigate risks to ensure consistent supply chain reliability.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to forecast material needs and proactively manage inventory levels.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, contracts, and supplier performance using ERP and procurement systems.
- Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and vendor consolidation.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team of procurement specialists and coordinators.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of procurement experience, preferably in the construction, electrical contracting, or manufacturing industries.
- Proven ability to negotiate complex supplier agreements and manage high-volume purchasing activities.
- Strong knowledge of electrical materials, equipment, and industry suppliers is a plus.
- Proficiency with procurement systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
