Senior Manager, Accounting Policy

SkyWater is excited to be partnering with a dynamic, high-growth organization headquartered in the Twin Cities to identify a forward-thinking Senior Manager to lead their financial reporting and accounting policy function. This highly visible role reports directly to senior finance leadership and serves as a strategic partner in shaping the company’s financial direction. The Senior Manager will not only drive external reporting and oversee accounting policy but also play a critical role in strengthening internal controls, guiding technical accounting matters, and coordinating annual audits. With meaningful exposure to strategy and M&A activity, this leader will help influence decisions that fuel the company’s continued expansion.
 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the quarterly review and annual audit process with external auditors, including preparing materials for audit committee presentations.
  • Lead the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards, including technical interpretation and documentation.
  • Provide accounting support for M&A activity, including purchase accounting, fair value assessments, and integration efforts.
  • Partner with investor relations to prepare materials for investor presentations, earnings calls, and Q&A documents.
  • Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Conduct technical accounting research to support complex transactions, draft accounting position papers and memos, and oversee the annual goodwill impairment process.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of annual and quarterly external financial reports (10-K/10-Q equivalents), including financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A, ensuring compliance with GAAP and disclosure regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of internal controls across the accounting function.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing financial reporting and accounting policy team, setting goals and fostering continuous development.
  • Collaborate with leadership, external advisors, auditors, tax professionals, and internal legal and finance teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with a mix of SEC reporting and technical accounting.
  • 4+ years in public accounting with CPA designation (Big 4 preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of SOX requirements and internal control design.
  • Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
