Senior Product Manager
Consumer Electronics (Product Development & Sourcing)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own and drive a broad portfolio of consumer electronics products, supporting both product development and global sourcing initiatives. This role blends traditional product management responsibilities with hands-on involvement in sourcing, cost optimization, and factory collaboration.

The Senior Product Manager will manage the full lifecycle of 75–100 SKUs annually, partnering closely with cross-functional teams across design, engineering, quality, logistics, and overseas manufacturing. This position also plays a key role in supporting customer-facing activities and mentoring junior team members.

This opportunity is ideal for a product leader with experience developing consumer products, particularly for mass retail or private label environments, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-SKU-volume setting.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

  • Lead consumer electronics products from concept through production and market launch.

  • Own product timelines, specifications, testing coordination, packaging execution, and deliverables.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sourcing, engineering, QA, packaging, and logistics teams.

  • Support buyer meetings, product ideation sessions, presentations, and pricing discussions.

Sourcing & Cost Management

  • Manage RFQs, quote comparisons, and factory communication in partnership with Asia- or Mexico-based sourcing teams.

  • Negotiate costs, analyze margins, and track tooling, lead times, and production readiness.

  • Identify alternate sourcing options and support secondary vendor strategies.

  • Ensure factories meet execution timelines aligned with compliance, testing, and shipping schedules.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Mentor Product Managers and Coordinators on best practices, prioritization, and execution.

  • Contribute to weekly product reviews and cross-functional planning meetings.

  • Act as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, product development, and/or sourcing.

  • Proven ability to identify white-space opportunities and new product segments.

  • Hands-on experience working with overseas factories and managing RFQ and costing processes.

  • Familiarity with big-box retail workflows (e.g., Target POL, Walmart Retail Link, testing protocols).

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high SKU volumes across multiple categories.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consumer electronics or adjacent categories such as accessories, audio, power, or smart home products.

  • Background developing private label products for major mass retailers.

  • Cross-category exposure within consumer electronics or personal tech accessories.

  • Experience with packaging development and retail merchandising considerations.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring junior team members or leading project teams.

This is a hybrid role based in the Twin Cities, requiring regular on-site collaboration with cross-functional teams.
