We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement and materials planning activities across multiple U.S. manufacturing sites. This role is responsible for driving purchasing strategy, improving supply chain performance, and ensuring material availability to support complex, engineered manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate combines hands-on purchasing experience with strong people leadership and process improvement capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of buyers and planning professionals supporting multiple manufacturing locations
  • Define, recommend, and deploy procurement strategies that improve efficiency, service levels, and cost performance
  • Drive key performance metrics including inventory turns, cash flow, supplier on-time delivery, and stock-out reduction
  • Implement replenishment strategies and manage PFEP parameters to ensure component availability aligned with production schedules
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, finance, and logistics teams to support business objectives
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and distributor relationships, including performance management and negotiations
  • Foster a positive, accountable team environment with a focus on professional development and continuous improvement
  • Travel up to 25% to support multi-site operations and supplier engagement

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related discipline
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or materials planning, including at least 3 years in a people leadership role
  • Direct experience working as a buyer, planner, or purchasing professional in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)
  • Experience with inventory optimization methodologies, including PFEP
  • Proven ability to manage and improve KPIs such as inventory turns, supplier delivery performance, stock-outs, and working capital
