Supplier Quality Engineer

Position Overview
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will play a key role in driving supplier quality performance across a diverse supply base. This individual will partner closely with Sourcing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and external suppliers to ensure components and materials meet quality, reliability, and regulatory standards. This role is highly visible and requires someone comfortable leading corrective actions, conducting supplier audits, and proactively strengthening supplier capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary quality contact for assigned suppliers
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts (8D, RCCA, etc.)
- Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations
- Support supplier qualification and onboarding activities
- Drive APQP/PPAP processes for new product introductions
- Monitor supplier KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve quality issues impacting production
- Travel up to 25–30% to supplier locations as needed
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Quality
- Experience working with metal components, fabricated parts, or electro-mechanical assemblies preferred
- Strong knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Root Cause Analysis)
- Experience with supplier audits and quality system standards (ISO, etc.)
- Ability to influence external partners and drive accountability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
