SkyWater is partnering with a long-standing client in Southern Minnesota to find a Director of Safety for their team! Our client is one of the largest, family-owned agricultural producers in the United States with over 1,000 employees and a large network of facilities across the Midwest. The Director of Safety will be responsible for overseeing the safety function for our client while leading a small team of 3 direct reports. This person will oversee multiple sites across the Midwest while developing, implementing & maintaining strategic safety programs, leading incident investigations & implementing corrective actions, and instilling a strong safety culture across the organization. We’re looking for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree (advanced degree or certifications preferred), 10+ years of experience working in an EHS or safety role and experience developing & implementing strategic safety initiatives. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee safety programs, policies, & procedures to ensure a safe work environment across multiple facilities.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards & risks.
  • Develop and conduct training programs on safety procedures, equipment usage, & emergency protocols for employees.
  • Stay updated and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, or near misses to determine root causes & implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce the frequency & severity of incidents.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and company leadership to address safety concerns & implement improvements.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in EHS or safety with proven experience developing & implementing safety initiatives.
  • Experience overseeing multiple sites and leading team members highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence & engage stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting (food/beverage, agriculture, etc. preferred).
