Technical Accounting Lead

From a role perspective, this is a great opportunity for someone with an active CPA and strong technical accounting / public company accounting experience who enjoys digging into accounting research and memo writing. The role will support technical accounting matters across the business, including GAAP research, SEC / SOX support, accounting policy, financial reporting, and special projects, with exposure to more complex areas like derivatives and consolidations.
We are open on industry and would absolutely consider someone coming straight out of public accounting if the technical skill set is there.

Responsibilities
- Assist with technical accounting research on a wide variety of business transactions and document conclusions in a memo.
- Stay current on new accounting pronouncements and assist with evaluating the impact on the Company’s accounting policies.
- Assist with compiling, maintaining and updating critical corporate accounting policies.
- Support compliance with US GAAP, SEC and SOX regulations.
- Participate in the preparation of financial statements and footnotes.
- Assist with preparation and documentation of internal controls.
- Support the design and enhancement of key processes and assist with optimizing efficiencies in the accounting and reporting areas.
- Support the consolidation process, including foreign currency translation and intercompany eliminations.
- Assist with review of key accounting areas including financial statement tie out, derivatives and asset retirement obligations (ARO).
- Leverage AI-driven tools to enhance the efficiency of technical research and documentation.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external auditors.
- Carry out additional duties and special projects as directed by the leadership team.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Active CPA license
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Knowledge of and experience with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
- Excellent accounting research aptitude
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work independently, yet cooperatively and constructively, in a team environment.
