Sr. Mechanical Engineer
SkyWater is partnering with a small, privately held engineering company in the Minneapolis area who’s looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team! Our client has been in business for over 40 years and designs precision hardware for applications in the aerospace & defense industries. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be involved across the full product development lifecycle, from initial concept & design through analysis, testing, and hardware delivery. This is a technically challenging role that offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical products alongside a collaborative team of experienced engineers. Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components & assemblies for aerospace / defense applications.
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed production drawings with GD&T.
- Perform engineering analyses including structural, thermal, and tolerance stack-up to validate designs.
- Support integration, assembly, and testing of hardware throughout the development cycle.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including design reports, test procedures, and compliance records.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of mechanical design engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or a similar regulated industry.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks).
- Experience with engineering analysis methods and design validation & verification processes.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
