Estimating Manager
SkyWater is partnering with one of the country’s leading mechanical contractors who’s looking for an Estimating Manager to join their growing field office in Southern Minnesota! This company is privately held, has been in business for over 75 years, operates out of nearly 20 regional offices nationwide, and has been recognized as a Top Workplace multiple years running. The Rochester MN office is experiencing significant growth driven by large-scale commercial construction projects in the region, and they need an experienced estimating leader to own the function and develop a talented estimating team. This is a high-impact, working manager role where you’ll be working on complex mechanical estimates and setting the strategic direction for the department. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating department.
- Oversee and perform the full estimation process for complex mechanical construction projects.
- Establish and continuously improve estimating procedures, standards, cost models, & databases.
- Lead pre-bid strategy meetings and review all final estimate packages for accuracy & completeness.
- Source and analyze competitive bid opportunities in the regional market.
- Collaborate with project management and corporate leadership teams to determine bid strategy & project selection.
- Support contract negotiations, change orders, and project turnover processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma required (Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
- 10+ years of estimating experience in a mechanical construction setting (plumbing, piping, HVAC, etc.).
- 5+ years of experience leading or mentoring an estimating team.
- Experience estimating large, complex projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction scopes, subcontractor coordination, and bid management processes.
