SkyWater is working with a returning client to help them find an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead new product development and product improvement initiatives for a diverse portfolio of consumer products. This role offers the opportunity to own products from concept through production while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, improve existing products, and support long-term growth. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys bringing ideas to market.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development projects from concept through production launch.
  • Own one or more product categories, supporting new product introductions, sustaining engineering, and value engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
  • Drive cross-functional projects involving engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and product management.
  • Develop product designs with a focus on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Support engineering change orders (ECOs) and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Evaluate competitive products and identify opportunities for product enhancements.
  • Apply engineering tools such as DFMEA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Build strong internal relationships to effectively drive projects and influence key stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of product development or project engineering experience within a consumer products or durable goods manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience leading products from concept through production.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, structures, hydraulics, fluid power, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Creo/Pro-E or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, FMEA, DFM, and product validation methodologies.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence teams and drive execution.
  • Consumer product, outdoor power equipment, or similar product experience is highly preferred.
