Skywater is seeking a Senior Marine/Waterfront Structural Engineer to support a growing portfolio of ports, harbors, shoreline, and environmental infrastructure projects with a national firm.

This is a hands-on, technical leadership position. You will lead structural analysis and design, develop and review calculations, plans, and specifications, support constructability and cost-estimating efforts, and coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams

Current projects include marine terminals, bulkheads, wharves, docks, shoreline stabilization, retaining structures, rehabilitation projects, inspections, and infrastructure located within contaminated-sediment remediation areas.

This is a remote position but candidates must have the ability to occasionally travel to work sites or closest office locations. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead and primary designer for coastal, waterfront, and marine infrastructure projects.
  • Perform structural analyses and coastal condition calculations for shoreline protection, stabilization systems, and marine structures.
  • Develop and review construction documents, including engineering plans, specifications, calculations, and design packages.
  • Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to manage budgets, schedules, deliverables, constructability, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to clients and project teams while mentoring engineers and advancing marine and coastal engineering best practices.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 8 years of structural engineering experience involving design, feasibility, or construction management.
  • Direct experience designing waterfront and/or marine structures and producing complete construction documents.
  • Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain licensure within 12 months.
  • Strong project coordination, technical communication, quality-control, and mentoring capabilities
  • Great Lakes, coastal, inland, regulatory, or environmental-remediation experience is preferred.
