Corporate Strategy & Investment Manager
Our client is seeking a Corporate Strategy & Investment Manager to join its corporate finance team. This role will lead strategic financial analysis, evaluate business and investment opportunities, and manage initiatives designed to improve profitability and strengthen the company’s long-term competitive position.
This position works closely with senior leadership and supports decisions related to capital investments, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, cost management, operational improvements, and long-range planning. The role will also identify and develop new business opportunities related to the company’s core process manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate new business, product, investment, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop financial models and business cases for capital projects, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct return-on-investment, internal-rate-of-return, scenario, and sensitivity analyses.
- Prepare recommendations, budgets, timelines, and implementation plans for proposed initiatives.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Manage approved projects from initial evaluation through implementation and handoff to the appropriate business owner.
- Support the company’s long-range strategic and financial planning processes.
- Analyze industry, market, economic, legislative, and regulatory developments that may affect the business.
- Evaluate company and industry cost structures and maintain models of the company’s competitive position.
- Lead cost-management and profitability-improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Partner with finance, manufacturing, engineering, procurement, supply chain, and other functions to evaluate and implement strategic projects.
- Perform financial and strategic analysis of potential acquisitions and investments of up to approximately $100 million.
- Complete additional strategic and financial projects as assigned by executive leadership.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, or a related field.
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 10 or more years of experience in corporate finance, strategic finance, investment analysis, corporate strategy, business development, economic analysis, or a related area.
- Strong knowledge of financial modeling, capital investment analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and business-case development.
- Experience evaluating capital projects, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, or new business opportunities.
- Experience in process manufacturing, food production, agriculture, commodities, chemicals, energy, or another capital-intensive industry preferred.
- Ability to understand manufacturing operations and connect operational decisions to financial performance.
- Strong analytical, project-management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional initiatives and communicate effectively with senior executives and Board members.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify, evaluate, and implement new ideas. This is a highly visible position with significant exposure to executive leadership. The role offers broad responsibility across strategy, finance, operations, and investments, along with the opportunity to take on expanded leadership responsibilities over time.
