Lead Hydrogeologist
An established, multidisciplinary science and engineering consulting firm is seeking a Lead Hydrogeologist to support a growing portfolio of complex groundwater projects, with significant near-term work in natural resources.
This is a technical leadership/SME role rather than a traditional people-management position. The successful candidate will serve as the senior hydrogeology SME on multidisciplinary projects, determining the technical approach, directing project-level staff, reviewing results, and owning the hydrogeology workstream from investigation through analysis and reporting.
The role can be based in Minnesota or Wisconsin with hybrid flexibility, with remote consideration for exceptionally strong mining-hydrogeology candidates.
Expected ravel is approximately 10–15%.
Base compensation is targeted at $100K–$150K
Responsibilities
- Define technical approaches for complex groundwater and hydrogeologic investigations.
- Own hydrogeology workstreams within larger multidisciplinary projects.
- Direct aquifer characterization, groundwater modeling, and numerical-analysis activities.
- Interpret technical findings and determine appropriate next investigative or modeling steps.
- Review deliverables, provide QA/QC, and mentor developing technical staff.
- Coordinate technical scope, schedule, budget, and commitments with project managers.
- Interface with clients and provide technical guidance during field and project execution.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 8–10+ years of progressively responsible groundwater/hydrogeology experience.
- Strong aquifer characterization, groundwater modeling, and numerical-analysis expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to independently define technical work and lead others through execution.
- Consulting experience involving complex, multidisciplinary, client-facing projects strongly preferred.
- Mining experience is preferred; sophisticated industrial, remediation, or landfill groundwater backgrounds are also relevant.
