Production Planner
An established global manufacturer of industrial automation and motion-control products is adding a Production Planner to its Shakopee operation. This is a highly visible, onsite position working directly with operations, purchasing, suppliers, and production to translate demand into executable manufacturing schedules.
The position is open to both early-career candidates and recent graduates with relevant internships. Engineering graduates interested in building a career on the operations/supply-chain side of manufacturing are particularly encouraged to apply.
This is an onsite position, where you will gain valuable skills in supply chain, production planning, and procurement and develop a practical understanding of the company’s products, material flow, and manufacturing processes
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules aligned with customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate material availability with production demand and inventory targets.
- Identify shortages, bottlenecks, and scheduling constraints before they disrupt production.
- Monitor supplier timing and escalate potential material issues.
- Partner with purchasing, operations, and production teams to resolve scheduling problems.
- Track production performance and communicate results against plan.
- Support inventory accuracy, ERP planning, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Manufacturing internship or professional experience strongly preferred.
- ERP exposure required; SAP experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving ability.
- Willingness to work onsite and learn the operation through an initial production-floor rotation.
