Manufacturing Engineering Manager
SkyWater is partnering with a client in the North Metro who’s looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join their growing team! This is a brand-new position created as the company continues to expand its manufacturing footprint. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will report directly to the VP of Operations and help build out the manufacturing engineering function across multiple facilities. You’ll lead capacity expansion, new product introduction, and process improvement projects, while being hands-on & working on the production floor. Our client is an established manufacturer of engineered components & systems for industrial and equipment markets, with operations across the Upper Midwest. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be the go-to technical manufacturing leader for their manufacturing sites, and will have the chance to help launch new facilities & grow the manufacturing engineering function over time. Responsibilities
- Lead capacity expansion, throughput, and cost reduction projects across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Manage capital equipment projects and oversee project budgets & timelines.
- Lead equipment selection, fixture design, plant layout, and process flow for new & existing product lines.
- Oversee new product introduction, including building out BOMs, routings, and standard work.
- Standardize best practices across facilities and support an established lean/continuous improvement system.
- Lead and develop a manufacturing engineering team, with room to grow headcount as the business expands.
- Partner with operations, quality, and supply chain leaders and influence cross-functional project teams.
- Define and track KPIs for productivity, efficiency, and project results.
- Support the launch of new facilities and production lines as the business grows.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a similar field of study.
- 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, including 2+ years leading teams (directly or indirectly).
- Hands-on technical background in equipment selection, fixturing, process design, and BOMs/routings.
- Experience leading capital equipment projects and capacity expansion projects is preferred.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. A Lean or Six Sigma certification is a plus.
- Background in mechanical assembly, plastics or fabrication is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
