Overall it was a successful process. I felt like it was an imperfect process, but part of that was driven on our end as we shifted the goal posts on what we were looking for. The piece that I wish would have been understood sooner was how important in-person was for us. I felt we communicated how important it was for boots on the ground on a continuous basis and many of the candidates were hesitant to be onsite often. A recommendation I would have to any candidate looking for a job in manufacturing, waste services, or any other business that has a heavy blue color work force is: you will not be taken serious as a candidate by many employers if you expect to work at home while a significant number of employees that work for the company roll their sleeves up and get dirty on a daily basis.
