CFO
SkyWater is pleased to be retained on a Chief Financial Officer search for a well-established and highly respected law firm. This is a newly created leadership position designed to support the firm’s continued growth and long-term strategic initiatives. The CFO will serve as the firm’s top financial leader and a key advisor to the Managing Partner and leadership team.
This individual will oversee all financial operations of the firm while providing strategic financial guidance in a partnership-based environment. The CFO will work closely with firm leadership and partners to support decision-making, ensure financial stability, and drive operational efficiency.

Local candidates to Minneapolis or Chicago will be considered. This role is primarily in office with occasional flexibility to work from home.

Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations including accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and financial reporting
- Partner closely with firm leadership to develop and execute financial strategy aligned with the firm’s growth objectives
- Manage partner income and compensation structures, including distributions and capital accounts
- Oversee partnership tax considerations and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed
- Provide financial insights and reporting to support strategic decision making for firm leadership and partners
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
- Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and operational best practices
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities
Desired Skills and Experience
- Prior CFO, Controller, or senior finance leadership experience within a law firm or professional services partnership
- Deep understanding of partnership financial structures, partner income and compensation, and capital management
- Experience with partnership tax considerations and financial reporting within a professional services environment
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to partner closely with firm leadership and partners
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to operate in a collaborative partnership environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- MBA or CPA preferred but not required
