Title: Chief Financial Officer (retirement succession plan)
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Salary: $300,000 – $350,000 + 25%

We are a rapidly growing privately held food manufacturing company looking for a Chief Financial Officer to partner directly with the CEO during our next phase of operational expansion.

With approximately $150M in annual revenue and multiple operating entities, our organization combines entrepreneurial culture with established production infrastructure, including bakery and protein processing operations.

As CFO, you will serve as a hands-on business partner across finance and operations, leading a lean accounting team while driving profitability through operational insight – not just reporting! As the department leader, you will work closely with plant leadership to develop KPIs, improve cost visibility, and guide strategic investments supporting growth.

Key priorities include ERP expansion, inventory optimization, and advancing planning and reporting sophistication across manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Partner with the CEO and COO to guide financial, operational, and sales decisions that support sustainable, profitable growth.
  • Provide data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to influence company direction and performance. Profitability & Performance Management
  • Drive increased profitability through financial analysis, operational insights, and strategic thought leadership.
  • Establish, monitor, and refine weekly KPIs to maintain visibility into organizational performance and operating health. Financial Management & Controls
  • Oversee financial reporting, general ledger integrity, and accuracy of financial statements.
  • Manage cash flow to ensure operational sustainability and strengthen internal control processes. Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead annual operating planning and midyear forecasting processes.
  • Evaluate business initiatives through structured financial modeling and performance analysis. Operational & Cost Optimization
  • Develop a deep understanding of operations across multiple interrelated companies to identify efficiencies and solve business challenges.
  • Review inventory planning to align production with sales forecasts and conduct annual product costing reviews (labor, materials, and overhead). Strategic Initiatives & New Product Development
  • Partner with senior leadership to evaluate and prioritize new product development opportunities, aligning strategic goals with operational execution. Systems, Risk & Compliance Management
  • Serve as administrative lead for ERP systems and oversee system enhancements or implementations.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Senior finance executive with demonstrated leadership experience within manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) organizations, ideally supporting operationally intensive businesses.
  • Deep expertise in cost accounting and operational finance, including margin analysis, inventory management, production costing, and financial performance optimization across complex supply chain environments.
  • Player/coach leadership style, combining hands-on execution with the ability to mentor, develop, and scale high-performing finance teams.
  • Proven success operating in founder-led or privately held companies, with the adaptability, pragmatism, and relationship-building skills required in entrepreneurial and fast-evolving environments.
  • Comfortable working onsite and closely embedded in day-to-day operations, partnering directly with manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial leaders to drive informed decision-making and accountability.
