Finance Director
SkyWater Search Partners has been exclusively retained by Heggies Pizza, a fast-growing, privately held Midwest food manufacturer, to lead its search for a Finance Director. Heggies has built a loyal customer following and is expanding its presence across major retailers. As the business grows, the company is investing in the systems, processes, and financial infrastructure it needs to support that growth.
The Finance Director will lead accounting and financial planning and analysis while partnering closely with operations. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Finance Director will also develop KPIs, analyze pricing, and help leaders use financial data to make day-to-day operating decisions and plan for growth.
The ideal candidate brings minimum 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience in manufacturing, a hands-on leadership style, and experience working closely with operations. Food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience is strongly preferred.
This role is based in Milaca, MN. For candidates who live too far away to commute daily, a hybrid schedule is available with 2–3 days on-site each week.
Responsibilities
Strategic Finance & Business Partnership Partner with ownership and executive leadership on strategic decisions, growth initiatives, pricing strategies, margin improvement, capital investments, and ROI analysis. Lead the annual budgeting process, monthly forecasting, long-range planning, and financial performance reviews. Develop and manage KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting that provide visibility into sales, operations, supply chain, and overall business performance. Deliver meaningful financial analysis and operational insights that support data-driven decision making across the organization. Support cash flow forecasting, working capital optimization, and capital allocation planning. Identify opportunities to improve profitability through pricing analysis, margin optimization, and operational performance initiatives. Accounting & Financial Operations Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. Oversee core accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, payroll interface, and general ledger integrity. Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting standards. Coordinate relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and other financial partners. Leadership & Process Improvement Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while building organizational capabilities for future growth. Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting, systems, and internal controls. Help build scalable financial infrastructure that supports continued growth and operational excellence. Serve as a trusted financial advisor and strategic business partner to leadership during a transformational stage of the company's growth.
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred. 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience within manufacturing, food production, CPG, or another product-based industry. Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting, FP&A, financial reporting, and operational finance. Strong business partnering experience supporting executive leadership, operations, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Demonstrated experience evaluating business performance, pricing strategies, margin optimization, capital investments, and ROI initiatives. Experience leading month-end close and overseeing accounting operations Experience working within high-growth, entrepreneurial, or scaling organizations where systems, processes, and reporting capabilities were actively being built and enhanced.
