HR Manager
Location: Eden Prairie, MN (on-site four days per week) Employment type: Full-time, exempt Compensation: $100,000 to $120,000 base, plus 10% annual bonus target and benefits

Our client is a private equity-backed life sciences company headquartered in the southwest metro, with a production operations in southern Minnesota and a field sales team across several states. The business has grown significantly over the past several years and is positioned for continued expansion through organic growth and acquisitions. It’s a lean, collaborative, in-person team with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
Role Summary
The HR Manager will own the people function end to end. This is a hands-on role for an experienced HR generalist who wants to build the function now and grow a team later. A PEO partner handles much of the administrative workload, allowing this role to focus on hiring, onboarding, performance management, compensation, employee relations, and policy. The HR Manager reports to the President and has direct access to senior leadership.
Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Function Build -Stand up the HR function and implement the company's approach to performance management, onboarding, compensation, bonus programs, and policy -Partner with executive leadership on workforce planning and organizational design, and lead the people side of acquisitions and new-site openings -Build HR metrics and reporting (headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, labor costs) to inform leadership decisions Talent Acquisition and Employee Relations -Own full-cycle recruiting for production, sales, and corporate roles -Build an onboarding process that works across office, production, and remote field sales employees -Serve as the go-to resource on employee relations, including investigations and supervisor coaching, with regular on-site presence at the production facility -Champion an in-person, collaborative culture through a period of rapid growth Performance, Compensation and Development -Design and roll out a performance management process, including goal setting, reviews, and performance improvement -Build compensation structures and salary ranges, benchmark pay, and design bonus and incentive programs -Develop front-line supervisors and first-time managers, and partner with Operations and Quality on required training in a regulated environment PEO, Payroll, Benefits and Compliance -Manage the PEO relationship, including payroll review and approval, benefits, and annual open enrollment -Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws in all states where employees work, including Minnesota ESST and Paid Leave -Own the employee handbook, HR policies, and job descriptions, and support general office and administrative needs
Desired Skills and Experience
Required Qualifications -Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered -7+ years of progressive HR experience with broad generalist exposure across employee relations, recruiting, performance, compensation, benefits, and compliance -Experience as a solo HR leader or first HR hire, or clear evidence of building HR programs from the ground up -Experience supporting an hourly workforce, ideally in manufacturing, production, distribution, or another operations-heavy environment -Hands-on experience designing or improving compensation structures, including hourly pay, bonus, and incentive programs -Working knowledge of benefits administration and multi-state employment law -Experience in a growing organization where you built or improved HR processes -Strong business acumen and comfort with data -A self-starter who is comfortable being strategic and tactical in the same day
