We’re partnering with a well-established precision manufacturer to find a Technical Lead for their  Machining department. This is a hands-on technical position supporting a team of machinists while partnering closely with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize CNC processes, troubleshoot production issues, standardize best practices, and improve overall machining performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled CNC machinist or programmer looking to expand their technical influence without moving into a formal management role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical expert for the multi-turret machining department
  • Support production by troubleshooting machining, tooling, setup, and programming issues
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize CNC programs, cycle times, tooling, and machine performance
  • Standardize machining processes and develop best practices across the department
  • Train and mentor machinists on setups, programming concepts, blueprint interpretation, and machining techniques
  • Validate first-piece inspections and ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Assist with new product introductions, prototype machining, and process improvements
  • Develop setup sheets, work instructions, and technical documentation
  • Act as the primary liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and production
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and safety

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Associate degree in Machining Technology or Engineering preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment
  • Extensive experience with twin spindle, multi-turret CNC turning centers
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and G-code (editing and troubleshooting)
  • Experience working with Fanuc and/or Siemens controls
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and interpret GD&T
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot machining processes, tooling, and setups
  • Experience mentoring or training machinists is highly preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers and production teams
