  • Posted: July 09,2026
  • Salary: $90,000

A leading industrial manufacturing organization in the western Chicago suburbs is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer I or II to support established production lines, process improvement initiatives, tooling upgrades, and product launch activity.

This is a hands-on, floor-facing role for someone who enjoys solving real manufacturing problems. The right person will be comfortable working around manual assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, legacy equipment, and cross-functional production teams.

The Manufacturing Engineer will support assigned product lines from development through production, troubleshoot process and tooling issues, coordinate engineering changes, develop and maintain work instructions and process documentation, and help drive Lean manufacturing initiatives. Key areas of focus include cycle time reduction, line balancing, workstation improvements, safety, quality, material flow, and corrective action implementation.

Ideal candidates will bring 1–6 years of manufacturing engineering experience in automotive, industrial products, food, medical device, or another established manufacturing environment. Experience with Kaizen, 5S, SMED, value stream mapping, time studies, PFMEA, process flow diagrams, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, 8D, and AutoCAD or similar CAD tools is highly relevant.

This is a strong opportunity for a manufacturing engineer who wants ownership, visibility, and the chance to make practical improvements that show up directly on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or other engineering-related discipline

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proficient with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Inventor to support manufacturing layouts, tooling, fixtures, and process improvements.
  • Strong Lean manufacturing background, including experience with Kaizen, 5S, time studies, line balancing, standard work, and process optimization.
  • Skilled in developing and applying engineering documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, PFMEAs, and other process/product development materials.
  • Experience supporting automation, tooling, equipment, and process improvement initiatives within industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong problem-solving capability using root cause analysis, 5 Whys, 8D, and related methods, with understanding of safety, quality, productivity, and demand planning
