Mechanical Design Engineer – Automated Test Systems
We’re partnering with a long-standing manufacturing client to identify a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on highly customized automated test systems, electromechanical assemblies, and new product development in a collaborative, hands-on engineering environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects from concept through implementation while working closely with electrical and software engineers to develop innovative testing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom automated test fixtures and electromechanical test systems.
- Create mechanical designs, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD software.
- Develop and modify C# applications used to control and interface with automated test equipment.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate sensors, actuators, motion control, and data acquisition hardware.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and software issues to improve reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and production implementation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for existing test systems and future product platforms.
- Provide occasional support for new product design and packaging projects.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing automated test fixtures, custom machinery, or electromechanical equipment.
- Experience programming in C#
- Familiarity with mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, sensors, and motion systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines.
- CAD experience (AutoCAD or similar 3D CAD software).
