Plant Manager – Metal Fabrication
A privately held manufacturing company is seeking a Plant Manager to lead operations at a metal stamping and fabrication facility in the Phoenix metro area. This role oversees all aspects of the site including production, quality, customer relationships, and overall operational performance.
This is a highly autonomous leadership opportunity within a long-standing family-owned manufacturing organization.
Position Overview
The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring the facility consistently delivers high-quality metal components on time and at competitive cost. This role leads the site’s operational strategy while working closely with ownership to maintain strong customer relationships and business performance.
The facility operates in a job-shop environment supporting multiple industries, producing short and medium run metal components through stamping, machining, and fabrication processes.
Responsibilities
- Operations Leadership
- Lead all day-to-day plant operations including stamping, machining, fabrication, maintenance, and shipping
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks impacting delivery and throughput
- Ensure orders are delivered on time and at quality standards
- Implement operational improvements and process efficiencies
- Establish and monitor key production metrics Business Performance
- Manage overall plant performance including cost control and operational efficiency
- Support plant-level financial performance and operational planning
- Work closely with ownership on business priorities and long-term strategy Sales & Customer Engagement
- Partner with sales and estimating teams on quoting and new opportunities
- Support customer relationships and key account management
- Work with manufacturing representatives and internal teams to maintain strong customer service Leadership & Team Development
- Lead the site leadership team including production, quality, sales, HR, and administration
- Develop supervisors and build a strong culture of accountability
- Promote a safe and high-performing work environment
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience within metal stamping, fabrication, machining, or job-shop environments
- Leadership experience managing plant operations or large manufacturing teams
- Experience in short-to-medium run manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of production workflows, scheduling, and operational performance Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with stamping presses, laser cutting, machining, and fabrication equipment
- Understanding of tooling, quoting, and manufacturing processes
- Experience improving operational efficiency and delivery performance
