SkyWater is partnering with a growing engineering firm in the Twin Cities who’s looking to hire a Procurement Manager for their team! This is a newly created position due to continued company growth, and the Procurement Manager will build & own the company’s external supplier network. This includes developing a reliable base of fabrication & machine shops, specialty manufacturers, and service providers who can support custom, one-of-a-kind projects for clients across a handful of industries (aerospace/defense, large, custom equipment, etc.). Our client is a small business that has built a strong reputation for engineering excellence and they’re an industry leader in their space. Responsibilities

  • Build and grow a network of outside suppliers (fabricators, machine shops, metal manufacturers, etc.).
  • Work with suppliers to get better pricing/contracts, lead times, guaranteed capacity, etc.
  • Visit supplier facilities periodically to see product capability and quality.
  • Source new suppliers while factoring their technical ability, quality track record, reliability, and price.
  • Work with suppliers on any issues that arise and negotiate a resolution that works for the company.
  • Help internal teams line up the right suppliers for each job/project.
  • Keep project teams and leadership in the loop on vendor performance and risk.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, business administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, sourcing, or a related position (or combination of positions).
  • Experience working with and building relationships with fabrication shops, machine shops, or similar suppliers/vendors.
  • Proven ability to build & manage supplier relationships and negotiate pricing or contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal).
