The Project Engineer will support projects from planning through completion, helping coordinate field activities, project documentation, schedules, vendors, subcontractors, and customer requirements.

The company is looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career and progressively take on greater project ownership as they develop. For the right individual, this role can provide a path into Project Management and broader operational leadership as the organization continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects from estimating and planning through execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Assist Project Managers with project schedules, budgets, cost tracking, forecasts, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, vendors, equipment providers, and internal resources.
  • Help prepare and manage proposals, bids, contracts, purchase orders, submittals, permits, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Track project schedules, milestones, costs, materials, and deliverables.
  • Communicate with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to help keep projects moving forward.
  • Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, field coordination, and customer discussions.
  • Help identify project risks, scheduling conflicts, cost concerns, and field issues and escalate them appropriately.
  • Support project closeout activities, including documentation, punch lists, commissioning requirements, and final customer deliverables.
  • Maintain organized project records and ensure documentation is accurate and current.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and company leadership to improve project execution, reporting, and internal processes.
  • Take on increasing ownership of projects and customer relationships as experience and capabilities develop.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of project engineering, project coordination, construction, field engineering, estimating, or related experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, industrial services, mechanical contracting, or a related industry.
  • Interest in developing into a Project Manager and taking on progressively greater project responsibility.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, deadlines, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working closely with both office and field personnel.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Basic understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, estimating, or cost tracking preferred.
  • Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment where team members wear multiple hats.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
